Privacy

The short version

This site does not collect anything about you. There are no accounts, no cookies, no analytics, no trackers, no advertising, and no third-party requests. Your photos are opened by your own browser, converted on your own device, and never sent to me or to anyone else — because there is no server here that receives files.

That is not a promise about how carefully I handle your data. It is a statement about architecture: I do not have your data to handle.

What happens to your files

When you drop a photo on one of the tools:

1. Your browser reads the file from your disk, the same way it would if you opened it in a local app.
2. The conversion runs inside the page, on your own device, using your computer’s own processor.
3. The result is written to a link your browser creates locally, and you save it.
4. When you close or reload the tab, everything is discarded. Nothing is written to storage that outlives the page.

At no point does the file leave your device. You do not have to take my word for it either: disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded, and the conversion still works. If you know your way around a browser’s developer tools, the Network tab tells the same story.

What this site does not do

• No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and no way to log in.
• No cookies. The site sets none, for any purpose — not for sessions, not for preferences, not for measurement.
• No analytics. No Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Fathom, no self-hosted alternative. Nothing here counts visitors, sessions, or conversions.
• No uploads. There is no upload endpoint. No file you select is transmitted anywhere. If you decide to email me a photo that converted wrongly, that is a message you choose to send, not something this site collects — the contact page says what happens to it.
• No server-side processing. The site is a set of static files. There is no application server that could see, queue, or store your images.
• No third-party requests. Fonts are self-hosted from this domain rather than loaded from a font CDN, precisely so that visiting the site does not tell a third party you were here. There are no embedded widgets, no social buttons, no tag managers, and no external scripts of any kind.
• No advertising and no ad tracking.
• No selling or sharing of personal information, because none is collected.

Hosting logs

The site’s files have to be served from somewhere, and like essentially every web host, mine may keep short-lived operational logs of requests — typically an IP address, a timestamp, and the file requested. This is a property of how the web works, not something I use. I do not read these logs to build a picture of visitors, and they contain no information about your photos, because your photos are never part of any request.

Your rights

Rules such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data a site holds about you. I hold none, so there is nothing to access or delete, and no request I could meaningfully act on. If you believe otherwise, I would genuinely like to hear about it.

Children

The site is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

If this ever changes

This site may one day carry advertising, because hosting is not free. If that happens, this page will be updated before any advertising code is added — not afterwards, and not quietly. The same applies to analytics or any other third-party code. The one thing that will not change is the core claim: your files are processed on your device and never uploaded. That is the entire reason the site exists, and it is not something I would trade for revenue.

Any change to this policy will be reflected here with an updated date below.

Verifying this yourself

There is deliberately no contact form on this site, since a form would be somewhere to collect data. That leaves you without a way to ask me to prove any of the above — so the better answer is that you do not have to. Open the Network tab in your browser’s developer tools and use any of the tools here: HEIC to JPG, HEIC to PNG, HEIC to PDF, the HEIC viewer, or compress an image. Every claim on this page is checkable in about thirty seconds, which is a stronger guarantee than anything I could write here.
